1. Abangadat (he was amazing and well rounded unlike any other exceptional player, he could keep up with anyone at any style of game)
2. Lei (this is off pure what i have heard, iv never gotten to see him play although i would like too, he is the only one who i have ever heard described on abungys level by other people on this list including abungy himself)
3. Punisher (i feel the punisher is underestimated by most players, he is exceptional and plays less conventionally then most)
4. Syking (syking was very very good, he seemed to enjoy fighting against ppl with more gold or income though, he wouldnt sit much which i like but severly weakens you as a player)
5. Erkinian-empire (erk would be the first great player i got to play with and who i learned a lot of stuff from, he is coming back soon, hopefully he is another player who i feel never got the respect he deserved)
6. Pedro (none of you will recognize pedro, he refuses to play on the west. but him and erk were the closest to even match i have seen in a long time)
7. bojack (bojack was good thats all ill say about him because i never got to see him play enough, i saw enough to recognize him as a skilled player though. from what i saw he wouldnt beat the people above so he goes here)
8. Roz (alot of people describe roz as the greatest but im not in support of that, there is no doubt he was good but from everything i saw of him he was not exceptional, i think putting him this low will make a lot of people angry but i doubt roz would care much. he was a cool guy and a good player)
9. Sleepy (very good 1 V 1, was not near as good in ffa and wouldnt qualify this high without his 1v1 skills, there is no denying he is good though)
10. Fallen god (the 2nd european player i put on this list, probably because i have played so rarely on europe, i intend to start more but for now you will go here because i have rarely seen you play)
11. Color-Crazy (color was good and the first person who actualy taught me to do a ship micro, since then mine has gotten worse :/ he was one of the cooler players and very good)
12. Phuker (phuker is very lucky to get on this list, and its because he is an exceptional player. he takes this last spot for me even though he is caught up in his own ego.)
these are the guys who i would want to see a 12 player FFA of, thats why i did 12 (top 25 and top 10 dont make much sense to me when its a 12 player game but what can you do?) players who almost made it but didnt for me would be super_ckicken, res, r00st, superdix, osb, xlak, shocky, mord, dty, frozen_donut, christ, gurzi and probably several dozen others who im forgetting. im not counting dooms_greeting in any of this but he would deffinantly be top 3 and probably be #1 although i didnt see enough to fairly compare him. deadly i feel your list is to confined to west and you just didnt see enough of east players like i havnt seen enough of euro. putting color in the top 10 and erk as a notable and abungy out of it i feel is a example of this. for the list of active players to day though it would be diffrent, i say dont hold onto the past but lets make new legends. |

Apologies, but I can't attach a name to your forum name, so I can't give you too much shit without fear of mistaking you for someone else  , nor can I pinpoint where in my (much too long) risk career you saw me play. In any case, opinion is opinion and I can't call shenanigans for it in the least.
I'll put in my two cents about lists like these though (very shiny, positive two cents though). To begin, it is tough to compare East/West players, as they had different styles and played with other top players in their server practicing in that style. Second, it is tough to measure ability when players reach their peak at different times and rarely meet their pinnacle at the same time as others do, thus when Bojack was at his peak, I could say that my peak was far behind. How do you measure that peak? How do you compare it?
Furthermore, you might assume that you'd have to be around for both of the players, but time changes style too. There are those ageless skills like micro-ing, but many other mechanics of the game aren't so ageless. BUT, going back to being around to see the players. My own peak was eons ago, when Norbo, Lei, Noblemen, and yes, even Goble were active. I can't recall Deadly being around in that time to see it, though my memory could be fuzzy (as it does sometimes, my old age is really getting to me in my mid-20s). I probably wasn't actually around to see Deadly's own peak either, so I most likely did not see the peak of his skill.
As a result, it requires the collective memory/judgment/brain of multiple players to come to any kind of informed decision in order to ensure validity. So, lists made by only a single person are unconsciously biased/lacking when it comes to knowledge on the topic.
Finally, how do you measure skill? It's a multi-faceted thing. Tough to actually measure it with some kind of universal truth. It'd need to be some comprehensive, detailed study into the idea of skill and the statistical measurement of such. So then this:
Lists are fun and all, I get this. It's simply ridiculous when people become angry at such lists, since lists that might come anywhere close to validity would be so comprehensive and long that simply no one would ever read them. They'd skip the preface about how such grading was done to ensure validity, the tools with which the info was gathered, and the thank-you's to the contributers. Instead, they'd go skim the guide for the top names, put it down and probably never read it again, assuming it was right because it was so goddamn long, shouting about its divine truth. Thus, the writers would really get snubbed and all the work would go for naught except those spare few who'd read it cover to cover. So, in the end, won't get written.
